NATURAL MATERIALS
Good appearance of natural materials depends on singularity and uniqueness of every element, every square centimetre of the surface. The difference in the structure of fibres, the quantity, shape and size of snags and their colour, the difference of shade of each board from that of another one and other natural characteristics are common and intrinsic for natural wood.
These are not deficiencies, but a part of all natural materials. We think that these very features make the natural beauty different from the artificial one.
Wood, as any other natural and foam material, continues to grow, it absorbs moisture and weeps during the course of its second life.
Despite the fact that TAFFOR’s furniture is designed in such a way that in order to be well adapted to climatic conditions, some wood motion might occur. Please, don’t worry, this is a normal response of a natural material.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
All the TAFFOR’s products are designed for internal use only.
The recommended humidity in the room is from 40% to 60%. The room proper temperature is as follows: +22° C at day-time and +14° at night-time.
Avoid arrangement of furniture in the following zones with extreme conditions:
— in close proximity to heaters
— in the proximate zone of air conditioner impact
Despite the fact that all the products are protected with oil, wax or varnish, stains from colouring liquids (wine, coffee etc.) may occur. Due to this reason, if such liquids get onto a surface, we recommend you to immediately remove them using a dry cloth.
During regular cleaning, wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth.
When water gets onto a surface, immediately wipe it with a dry cloth. When you are wiping the surface, always move the cloth along the wood fibres. Put a napkin or something similar under hot or cold glasses, bottles to avoid traces on the surface.
When cleaning glass surfaces, apply the cleaning agent on the cloth you are wiping with, and do not spray it on the glass, as when spraying, a part of the cleaning agent may get onto the wood, and that might result in damaging the protective coating. Within the first few weeks after the delivery of the furniture into your house, its surface is too sensitive to light. During this period, it is very much desirable to avoid falling of direct sun beams on the furniture surface. As any natural material, within some time, wood will change its shade under impact of direct sun light. Due to this reason, we recommend you to shift items located on the wooden surface from time to time to avoid appearance of colour “stains”. During wet cleaning of the floor, try not to touch the furniture base with a floor cloth, as domestic chemicals used in the agents for floor washing can leave an unwashed trace.
The room shall be ventilated on a regular basis.
Proper air circulation prevents from formation of mould on wood. One should not locate the furniture close to the walls that have been recently plastered.
DO NOT use any powders, sprayers, creams, solvents, sand cloths, materials, containing silicon, spirit, acetone for cleaning the furniture, as that may result in damaging the protective coating and formation of stains that cannot be taken out. DO NOT USE materials, containing wax for treatment of flat finishes. Wax glosses, and that prevents from restoration of the original quality of furniture with flat finish.
DO NOT put hot items (saucepans, frying pans etc,) onto wooden furniture surface finished with natural oil. Drastic change of a temperature mode will cause damage of protective coating and formation of circles that cannot be removed from the furniture surface without grinding.
REGULAR CARE
Use a dry cloth for regular care. Use a slightly damp cloth to clean from thick dirt or in case of colouring substance spill. Wipe along the wood fibres. Do not use soap or other chemicals. Wipe the surface dry with a soft clean cloth after treatment.
SURFACE REFURBISHMENT
To slightly renew the appearance of and refurbish your furniture, or to remove some surface stains, occurring from water or in places, where accessories have been located, we recommend you to use BIOFA “Multigrade Solid Oil’ (article 2044). Before applying the oil, make sure that the surface is clean and dry.
It is important to evenly distribute the oil along the surface and remove the product surpluses immediately after applying it to avoid the occurrence of stains after the oil drying.
RESTORATION OF FINISH
Within some time, the original coating might require renewal.
For the furniture finished with colourless coating, we recommend to use BIOFA “Multigrade Solid Oil” (2044). In case of discolouration, stains appearing, or if it is necessary to hide the surface scratches, we advise you to grind the surface at first, using abrasive paper with 120 unit grit. To restore the surface, lined with tinting oil, ask our company for purchasing the restorative set. The set includes oil of a required colour, oil application agent, abrasive material. Before applying the oil, make sure that the surface is clean and dry. It is important to evenly distribute the oil along the surface and remove the product surpluses after applying it to avoid the appearance of stains after the oil drying.
OIL APPLICATION
For finishing most of the furniture, we are using the utmost natural oil compositions (they are transparent and have pigmental natural additives). This preserves the natural surface finish of wood by feel and its colour and forms the natural protective surface that is a repellent and protects the furniture against the majority of substances and liquids, but such a surface does not protect against the colouring substances, such as juices, wine, coffee etc. In case of a spill of such substances, remove them from the surface immediately.
METAL TIES
Wipe the metal ties with a dry cloth. For thorough cleaning use soft soap and warm water. After cleaning, wash off the soap solution with clean water and wipe dry.
Do not use steel wool, abrasive paper, mineral acid, bleach or chloric cleansers. Always lift the furniture when shifting it.
LEATHER
Upholstery of leather sofas and chair seats is not allowed to be laundered or subjected to chemical cleaning. To keep the furniture in optimal state, we recommend you to clean it regularly, using vacuum cleaner with a (soft) nozzle for furniture. Systematically wipe the leather upholstery with a clean dry cloth, and avoid its arrangement under direct sun beams.
Do the following in case of a liquid spill:
— Blot with a clean, dry white cloth. Do not rub.
— In case if stains appear, use a clean, slightly wet white cloth, blot the leather from the outside edge to the centre of the spot.
— Do not use chemical products that are not designed for leather. Use a towel to evenly dry the leather and avoid the leather too strong wetting.
— Do not use a fan for drying, because hot air from the fan excessively dewaters leather.
— For removal of thick dirt, we recommend to use the special agent KERALUX® Soft Cleaner
If you feel that the leather finishing is too dry, we recommend you to use a special agent for leather care KERALUX® Care Lotion P.
DINING TABLES
For finishing dining tables, we use polyurethane varnish. The varnish we use is manufactured by an American company, certified as per strict US parameters and, in accordance with the manufacturer’s statement, is safe for infants after drying.
For keeping the maximum integrity and good appearance of your furniture, we also recommend you the following:
— Avoid the use of water hotter than 60°C for cleaning the furniture surface. .
— Avoid the use of abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning furniture, as that might cause damage of the varnish layer and formation of stains that cannot be taken out.
BATHROOM
For finishing the furniture for bathroom, we use mat polyurethane varnish that protects wood against moisture and household chemistry. For keeping the maximum integrity and good appearance of your furniture, we recommend you the following for bathroom:
— Avoid the use of water hotter than 60°C for cleaning the furniture surface. .
— Provide good ventilation for bathroom and try not to leave water on the surface for a long time (for example, for a night).
— Avoid the use of abrasive cleaning agents, as that might cause damage of the varnish layer and formation of stains that cannot be taken out.
